WECo KC // LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Vendors

Over the course of the pandemic, I teamed up with some vendors to create the Wedding and Events Coalition, WECo, within the Mid-America LGBT Chamber.

WECo’s mission is twofold:
1. to create an affirming vendor directory resource for all LGBTQ+ couples and like-minded allies who want their wedding dollars to align with their values.
2. to provide vendors with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training to create a safer space in the wedding and events world.

Marriage equality in all 50 states has only been around since 2015, the fight is far from over. There are (unfortunately) still examples of vendors in the Kansas City market who discriminate against queer couples and refuse service. WEco’s vendors are not just willing to serve all LGBTQIA+ couples, they are enthusiastic about serving clients of all identities.

In the business of love, there is no room for discrimination.
